Badurday- May 18- Benedict Cumberbatch

I’m not a huge Star Trek fan- I prefer Star Wars and Doctor Who, but I am a very, very big fan of Benedict Cumberbatch. I think he’s absolutely brilliant and I’m planning to see the movie for him and him alone. It’ll be two hours of bliss for me- at least when he’s on the screen. I also like Simon Pegg and some of the other actors in this one but be sure Benedict is the lure for me and he looks to be deliciously evil in this one. If you see it, I hope you enjoy!

On my personal blog, I’m participating in a blog hop and have a couple of giveaways. I’m also donating sales proceeds for the weekend to my local animal shelter. Pop in and say hi at JillianChantal.com

Badurday- October 20, 2012- Leslie Howard

Yeah, I know, most people think of him as Scarlett O’Hara’s unrequited love in Gone with the Wind, but he was a bad boy- or should I say brave boy- in The Scarlet Pimpernel. He played a marvelous character, one who risked his own life to save aristocrats from Madame Guillotine. I love, love Leslie in this role. If you’ve never seen it, you must.

Badurday- September 15, 2012

Happy birthday this week to two of our best bad boys. One celebrant was Colin Firth and the other was Hugh Grant. I’ve got two movie trailers here for these guys for films you may not have seen. The Colin one was from the 1990s and he was a complete addict in this one- a football (soccer) addict, that is. He certainly wouldn’t win any awards for boyfriend of the year in it.

The Hugh one is from the 1990s as well and it’s kind of a disturbing film overall but I love it. He’s an absolute ass in it but that’s what we love about him, right? This movie also has the best all-time Captain Hook scene in any movie inside the play within the movie.

So, happy birthday wishes to two of our past bad boys. Join me in a toast to their continued film careers so they can keep us entertained. Cheers!

Badurday- October 29, 2011- Christopher Eccleston

I wracked my brain for a choice for Halloween weekend and came up with Christopher Eccleston.  He’s a super actor. He played the 9th Doctor on the  Doctor Who series. My spouse has watched this show since the 1970s and was thrilled when it came back after a hiatus. Christopher was only the Doctor for one season, but he did a great job with it. Who is badder than Doctor Who, really? I mean, he’s the time lord, right? but, the reason I’ve chosen Christopher for the Bad Boy of the week is the movie The Others. This show came out in 2001 and I loved it. It was an awesome, suspenseful movie. The kind I adore. Where the suspense is the thing. No gore, just tense scenes that make me want to know what’s up. This movie delivers that in spades.

Christopher plays Nicole Kidman’s character’s husband who fought in World War II. She’s living in a mansion on the island of Jersey with her two children who are photosensitive and can’t be in the light.  I love, love this movie. Very atmospheric and quite a treat to watch for Halloween. Rent it. You won’t regret it.

Badurday- August 27, 2011- Damien Lewis

Today’s bad boy is British. Shock shock, right? I can’t help it, I’ve had a thing for Brits since I was in middle school. It’s incurable and I don’t care.  Anyway, today’s guy is Damien Lewis. He came to my attention in a little movie made in 2007 called The Baker. It came on television here and was called Assassin in Love.  The main character is a hit man and hides out in a small village in Wales.  He becomes a baker. The villagers try to get him involved in lots of zany activites, including murder.  The movie itself was a bit silly but the man character, Milo “the baker” Shakespeare was a delight. He’s our bad boy of the day, Damien Lewis.

Badurday- August 20, 2011- Daniel Craig

Okay, I confess, I went to see Cowboys and Aliens. Yeah, yeah, I know- hard to believe of me, but there it is. I did it. Mostly because of Harrison Ford who I adore and Daniel Craig who can also be quite the hot guy. It could have been such a fun movie, but the pacing was off. It was waaaay to slow moving to be a romp. The aliens looked like your every day garden variety aliens. The plot was kind of silly, but as my son said., ‘C’mon, mom. what did you expect with the word alien in the title.”  We also felt like we’d been duped into watching Transformers. So, all in all, not so hot.  My friend, Micki, asked me if it was worth it just for the eye candy and I couldn’t even answer her. Finally, I said, “That would be a no.”  Check out this one pic of Daniel I have here- the front view in the cowboy hat- does he look to you like he has cleavage? He does to me.  Now, the rear view, yeah, I’ll take that.  LOL

He looks good in some of his other movies like the James Bond ones, La4er Cake, and one called Flashbacks of a Fool.  Enjoy!

Badurday- April 30, 2011- Ray Stevenson

I was rewatching The Other Guys (SUCH A FUNNY MOVIE) this week and remembered that I’d intended to bring this guy to you for a Badurday event. He played a pretty tough dude in this movie. Wielded his weapon quite well.

He was also pretty dang evil in the movie called The Punisher.  He truly can channel a bad boy. He was also in the tv series Rome.   He’s in the new Thor movie coming out as well.  AND he’s going to be Porthos in The Three Musketeers coming out soon, too. I, for one, will be tuning in.
