Happy Wetsday, Dear Jillian . . .

Well, my darlings, the stars are in perfect alignment this week. Not just that the sun has entered Capricorn with the Winter Solstice, but we celebrate Jillan’s triumphant return from the Home Country (Christmas in London! Sigh…)

And on top of that, it is dear Jillian’s birthday as well! How cool is that?!? So there is nothing else for it — We need a little Rickman NOW!

Happy Birthday, to a fabulous writer, lawyer and friend — who is now just as old as I am!!!!

(And in keeping with our watery theme, let me point out that Col. Brandon carrying Marianne home in the rain is one of the most romantic things I’ve ever seen!)

Badurday Birthday Boy (how’s that for alliteration)

Anyone who knows me at all will know I can’t miss this birthday coming up on the 21st.  This man has been my favorite actor for many, many years.  He is so versatile.  So sexy.  Just wonderful.   Today, I’m going to tell you all about some of his more obscure roles.  First is a stage role.  He played Valmont on stage. We all know how bad Valmont was. And I know Romancemama will try to compare Colin Firth’s Valmont with Alan’s and all I can say is they are both fabulous.

There is a movie called Dark Harbor.  Very dark movie. You think its going in one direction and bam, surprise!  He is bad, really bad. The best thing in this one is his stripping down to his birthday suit (Note to self, watch this on his birthday to see that suit) and diving in the water. He then walks nude to his house.  Very nice thighs and buttocks.   Oh, and those calves…

Dark Harbor:

The next little film is An Awfully Big Adventure.  Now, if you read the blurb on it, you may think it is a comedy. Nothing could be further from the truth.  My poor dear is a very bad boy in this one, not really knowing it until the end. He thinks he’s bad for sleeping with a young girl but it gets worse.  AND he does a fabulous Captain Hook in the play within the movie.  A must see.

An Awfully Big Adventure:

And one more:  Closet Land.  There are only two people in this movie.  Alan plays an interrogator and he is absolutely marvelous. Just a stunning performance.   I can’t recommend it enough.  And, he could interrogate me anytime.  I’ll take this bad boy cop any day.

Closet Land:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALAN RICKMAN.  Here’s hoping for many more so we can continue to enjoy your talents.

EDITED to add:  Lost power at my house last night until 9:45 this morning. Sorry to be late.   The pictures in this post didn’t want to line up like I wanted.

AND remember, we have Megan Records here on Tuesday on our countdown to the Silken Sands Conference on Pensacola Beach and on Thursday, we have a guest blogger, Cat Johnson.  Check back often in the next few weeks as we have a stellar line up.

An Extra Special Wetsday/BadBoy for SFCatty

I still have SFCatty’s  Christmas and Birthday presents under my tree. I am always the latest person to get people their gifts — my brother still gives me grief about the year I gave him his present in July (his DOB is 1/7!)

But I have picked out a special Wetsday for her today to celebrate her birthday (albeit late as usual). This video combines a skinny-dipping scene with other great shots of her all-time favorite BadBoy.  While my heart still belongs to Colin, I have to say I wouldn’t kick SFCatty’s favorite Brit out of my hot tub, if she ever chose to send him over for a dip!

Without further ado, here is the one and only Hans Gruber, Sheriff of Nottingham, Col. Brandon himself, Alan Rickman!!!!

Bad-urday Oct 3, 2009 Edition

Our Bad-urday boy, Birthday boy (tomorrow, he’ll be 42) is Liev Schreiber. He is one of our most versatile American Actors. I adore him. I’ve even met him and have his picture with me hanging on the wall in my conference roomliev and meisn’t he cute?  He was in a play called “Talk Radio” and it was pretty  much a one man show.  He was awesome.

He played in X Men as Sabretooth and Victor Creed-  his chops were even cute (and everyone knows how I hate mutton chops on a man) wolverine41

He played in the Painted Veil as the cad that had an affair with the leading lady and when she told her husband she wanted a divorce to be with him, he dumped her. OOOH, but he looked good while he did it.

Liev played recently in Taking Woodstock as a transvestite ex-marine.   He actually looked good in the dress.   What legs!

Who could forget him in Defiance?  I don’t camp (roughing it for me is the Wingate as opposed to the Marriott) but I’d hang out in the woods with him any day.  liev-schreiber-shirtless-08liev-schreiber

Yes.  I know I’m supposed to be blogging about him being bad.  He was really bad when he played on CSI for four episodes a couple of years ago.  He was the fox in the henhouse, so to speak.  He worked in the lab but he was the murderer.   Cool, huh?  AND look how great our birthday boy looks in his surf shorts (and check out the legs!)   Happy Birthday, Liev.
