Happy Birthday to My Favorite Bad Boy- February 23, 2013- Badurday

This week was the birthday of Alan Rickman. As anyone who reads this blog knows, I adore him. He’s versatile and plays all his roles with a singular goal of doing the best work that he can do. He’s utterly charming in his interviews and I admire the way he endeavors never to give a spoiler for any of his films in these interviews. Here’s a poem to celebrate. Here’s to many more birthdays for this man and many more years of work and entertainment for us, the masses.

Badurday- September 15, 2012

Happy birthday this week to two of our best bad boys. One celebrant was Colin Firth and the other was Hugh Grant. I’ve got two movie trailers here for these guys for films you may not have seen. The Colin one was from the 1990s and he was a complete addict in this one- a football (soccer) addict, that is. He certainly wouldn’t win any awards for boyfriend of the year in it.

The Hugh one is from the 1990s as well and it’s kind of a disturbing film overall but I love it. He’s an absolute ass in it but that’s what we love about him, right? This movie also has the best all-time Captain Hook scene in any movie inside the play within the movie.

So, happy birthday wishes to two of our past bad boys. Join me in a toast to their continued film careers so they can keep us entertained. Cheers!

Badurday- February 25, 2012- Birthday Boy

This past week, February 21, to be exact, was the birthday of the baddest bad boy (in my humble opinion).

Badurday Birthday Boy (how’s that for alliteration)

Anyone who knows me at all will know I can’t miss this birthday coming up on the 21st.  This man has been my favorite actor for many, many years.  He is so versatile.  So sexy.  Just wonderful.   Today, I’m going to tell you all about some of his more obscure roles.  First is a stage role.  He played Valmont on stage. We all know how bad Valmont was. And I know Romancemama will try to compare Colin Firth’s Valmont with Alan’s and all I can say is they are both fabulous.

There is a movie called Dark Harbor.  Very dark movie. You think its going in one direction and bam, surprise!  He is bad, really bad. The best thing in this one is his stripping down to his birthday suit (Note to self, watch this on his birthday to see that suit) and diving in the water. He then walks nude to his house.  Very nice thighs and buttocks.   Oh, and those calves…

Dark Harbor:

The next little film is An Awfully Big Adventure.  Now, if you read the blurb on it, you may think it is a comedy. Nothing could be further from the truth.  My poor dear is a very bad boy in this one, not really knowing it until the end. He thinks he’s bad for sleeping with a young girl but it gets worse.  AND he does a fabulous Captain Hook in the play within the movie.  A must see.

An Awfully Big Adventure:

And one more:  Closet Land.  There are only two people in this movie.  Alan plays an interrogator and he is absolutely marvelous. Just a stunning performance.   I can’t recommend it enough.  And, he could interrogate me anytime.  I’ll take this bad boy cop any day.

Closet Land:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALAN RICKMAN.  Here’s hoping for many more so we can continue to enjoy your talents.

EDITED to add:  Lost power at my house last night until 9:45 this morning. Sorry to be late.   The pictures in this post didn’t want to line up like I wanted.

AND remember, we have Megan Records here on Tuesday on our countdown to the Silken Sands Conference on Pensacola Beach and on Thursday, we have a guest blogger, Cat Johnson.  Check back often in the next few weeks as we have a stellar line up.

Today is my birthday

Happy Birthday to me. The Beatles song “Birthday” was played for me by my children on Beatles Rock Band. You have not been serenaded til you get the full effect of the drums and ersatz guitar of the PS3 game. It was a nice day. Worked til 11:45 am and then went to Malbis and Spanish Fort with the family. Dinner at Carrabas and the serenade rounded out the day. Ah, Bliss.

Poor Romancemama

is getting old. She has forgotten her love’s birthday is today. It is so sad to see that Romancemama is going to lose Mr. Darcy to Elizabeth Bennett and also lose Mark Darcy, the human rights lawyer, to Bridget Jones. Also, she will lose out on Mr. Dashwood in the “What a Girl Wants” movie to John Travolta’s wife. And all those other movies where he gets to say the most romantic lines. I bet none of those ladies would forget the birthday of their true love. Shame, shame on Romancemama!  Happy Birthday, Colin!colin

Romancemama, you have broken my heart (sob), I guess its over.  Goodbye my dear, Colin F.
