New Release

Hello everyone! Well, guess what??? The Harder They Buck was released with The Wilder Rose Press on Friday. Now I love to go to the Amazon site or to novelrank and check my sales for my books, and was a little disappointed when The Harder They Buck was not up on amazon. I emailed my editor to see how long it’d take, because you know I was checking novelrank like every two minutes! She explained that it’d take her a few days to get it on there but that if she were me she’d push buying from The Wild Rose Press. I usually do that anyway but I really wanted to see it on amazon. She went on to explain why it was so important for me to encourage people too buy direct. Why you ask? I”ll break it down in numbers 🙂

If Amazon buys your book at wholesale for $2.50 you get royalties from that price which at 35% is $.88. Now lets see what it’d be if you bought direct from the publisher. At full price your book may be $4.50 so you’d get 35% of that which is $1.58! WOW what a difference that is.

Also when buying ebooks read the formatting guidelines. You may not realize it but most all epublishers have a program you can download that is compatablie with you reader. Usually you will see a page that says “Which format to use?”. Give it a second before you decide you can’t buy from that publisher. Read the information given and try it. If it doesn’t work email the publisher and complain, most will understand(from my experience).

So now I give you The Harder They Bcuk 🙂

The Harder They Buck

WARNING: This book contains the use of whips, ropes, and handcuffs by one sexy cowboy looking to win the ride of his life.

Raised by parents who don’t believe in affection, Melanie Brantley developed a hard-edged outlook on life…and love. But then along comes a cowboy who makes her blood boil, and not only with anger. A fact that scares the hell out of her. Enough that she seeks solace at Minx, a club that caters to the more carnal pleasures.

After recovering from a bull ride gone wrong, Lance Wright is ready to move forward and he’s set his sights on Melanie. Her temper tells him all he needs to know about the passion he’d find in her bed. The wildcat fights him every step of the way, but she’s in for a surprise. The harder Melanie bucks, the more Lance wants to ride.

The alarm on Melanie’s cell phone vibrated, thank god. She’d stayed the hour and a half she’d promised. Time to get the heck outta here.

“Someone important?” Lance’s low voice whispered behind her.

Melanie tensed. She’d been just about to run for the hills. “Kinda. What do you want?” She turned and stared at him. His deep brown hair was half hidden under his black cowboy hat, and his long sleeved orange and white plaid shirt stood out in a sea of red and green shirts. His eyes danced with mischief, and she fought not to dance with them. One thing she did love was a guy to play with, and Lance was always ready to play.

“I’m glad you invited your sister up for the holidays. She’s nice. I was worried when Billie said she was coming up.” He smirked. “It’s hard enough around here with you, but I sure didn’t need another woman threatening me with bodily harm.”

“Leave my baby sister alone,” she nearly growled.

“Can’t do that—unless you’d like to take her place. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings a bit if you’d hold off on hurting me to go out with me, at least once.” He leaned close, his spicy cologne filling her nose and setting her on path to sure destruction. “All that passion you have, I can help you put it to good use.” He nipped her ear.

She wanted to lean into him, to press her body against his and do just what he’d said. Yes, she knew he’d use her passion to drive her to the brink of madness, and what was more, if she let him, she would drive herself further. There was something about Lance Wright that upped her emotions. Never before had a man stirred such hate and love. She’d always heard the line between love and hate was thinly veiled, and standing so close to Lance, feeling his body heat against hers, she knew it was the truth.

Tuesday’s Industry News: Tips for Self Promoting

Hello everyone! So I missed last Tuesday’s blog and I’m so sorry for that mishap. Today I’m back in full force. Well not full force, I have a bit of a problem. You see as I’m researching ways to promote Riding Double I’m running around not settling on any one WIP. I’ve started five new WIPS this month! FIVE and written a chapter on each one, thats five chapters plus change. That could be a great first quarter to one full length book or half of a great short story(I say great because I’m trying to think positive). Instead I’m running from WIP to WIP and in-between I’m going crazy over what to do for promoting. My critique partner is having great fun with this also. As she said “I’m the one usually never settling, what the hell is wrong with you?” I don’t know!!!

I’m hoping once I get my mind off the release I’ll settle some. I emailed Ms. Cat Johnson who we had on the site a few months back for her new release Bucked to get her advice on promoting. She emailed me back with some suggestions on what to do for promoting and I’ve started.  So I’ll give you all three of my favorite tips and we can discuss them.

1. Setting up Author Pages.

Now I had never really put much thought into this as I figured the stuff I sent my publisher would work but turns out you can create your own author sites on some book seller websites with more information on you and your book. For example on if you have a book sold through them you have the great chance to go to and set up an author page. I loved it. I got to add more about myself, my book, book reviews, I even added an interview that my ‘laughing at me because I can’t settle’ friend Rebecca Zanetti did of me. I uploaded a photo and all. Loved it. Now have I ever really checked out an authors page? No, but it was cool to do one and I hope people check it out and maybe buy my book because they decide “Yeah I like her, sounds cool” because you know I am 🙂 That last comment was a test, my author friend Brandi Hall “visits” the site every so ofter and I make comments like this to her all the time while she rolls her eyes and tells her cat I’m a dork.

2. Free Reads

Okay I love free reads, I mean really they are the best. When Cat suggested that I write one in hopes that readers would get a taste of my writing and want more I was all over that. In fact I started one (#5 of my WIPS). But I sent an email to my editor about it and well for her it has to have a beginning, middle, and happily ever after. I didn’t want it to have a HEA, no I wanted to introduce a character let him have some wild times then pick up his story later. Alas not going to happen. SO I’ve adjusted and have it going in a way I kinda like. Now have I ever read a free read then went “Gotta buy this chicks books now”? Not really, I will say that after reading a free read if I like it I will go and look at the other books offered by said author.

3. Articles

Now this is one that I had already done before I got any advice. A friend of mine along with some of her friends( I think 2 maybe only 1) started and recently invited me to participate in the weekly newsletter. When she asked if I wanted to I said “Sure, why the hell not”. I gotta admit I loved it. It gave me a chance to write an article I’d been wanting to write for some time and it helped promote my book. It was a win win and I’d love to do another one as I’ve got all kinds of stuff to rant about(Hear that Liz?? I’m making a list!)

So as readers what makes you want to buy a book? Do reviews matter? Do free reads help? Does seeing a person’s biography and picture help? Tell me what helps you decide.

And my writer friends what do you do to promote?

Thanks all

Tuesday’s Industry News: Guest Blog with Teresa D’Amario

Hello everyone! Nearly a year ago I joined the FFnP chapter of RWA. Within the first few months I made several friends on the critique loop. One who helped me with my craft, although at times I wanted to bang my head on the table, was fantastic author Teresa D’Amario.

Teresa helped me so much in my early drafts of not one but two manuscripts, she even pointed out how one character had a tendency to appear, what was the word she used :), um a tad bitchy. I have no idea where that came from, she was obviously completely wrong 🙂 And I can remember saving her critiques to read last because I hoped by the time I got to her’s I’d already given more depth so she wouldn’t work me too hard(yeah right, I have permanent brain damage from the table). If I got one “why? What does this feel like, taste, smell?” I got a thousand from her. Which only improved my writing and my characters. Thank you for that Teresa!

The advice Teresa gave me has opened my eyes to many things, one was the depth of my characters and how to go deeper. I’m so pleased to be able to have her here on the blog today. Please help me welcome Teresa to Southern Sizzle.

Nora Hunt is the daughter of former pack leader Sean Hunt and niece to Kieran Hunt. Emotionally and physically scarred after being held captive for weeks, she’s finally ready to move on with her life. But when she meets Ryland, she discovers not only a world of darkness and pain, but discovers Ryland may not be any better than those who held her captive all those weeks.

When Ryland Keegan steps in as Alpha of his dead brother’s pack, he inherits a pack of savage rogue wolven, as well as a legacy of violence, lies and five women held captive within the pack’s confines.

But when Ryland’s pack members start dying one at a time, he must decide if Nora is the catalyst or the killer. Can he trust his True Mate? Or will he be relegated to a life of leading the dregs of Wolven society?

Hello to the ladies of Southern Sizzle Romance! Thanks so much for allowing me to visit! Yes, we have had some sizzling hot days already this year, in North Carolina, and I’m looking forward even more down here in the south. Yes, Down here is proper grammar if you’re from “Down here”. Originally I am from Atlanta and Alabama area (yes, I know Atlanta is a city, but dang it, isn’t it as big as the state of Rhode Island? So I treat it like a state). But now, I’m in North Carolina, which is still south of the Mason Dixon line, so I definitely think southern sizzle still fits with my genre.

You see, I write hot shifters, who instead of being hidden away in the forests where normal shifters hide, mine are in plain sight, right there in the sands of North Carolina.

I laughed at my editor when  we were working on Dark Succession – my book which releases on Tuesday the 20th of April (Yes, Yes, I’m VERY excited about this book), because I mentioned SAND in the woods. She says “Don’t you mean soil?” No dear, I mean sand. Take a look at this photo. It was taken on Easter Sunday – when my darling little niece and my dear sweet Ace (the dog) were hunting easter eggs. Don’t they look like they are having tons of fun? Only problem is, there wasn’t much grass to hide those eggs in. Just sand. *sigh*

But the sands of NC hide a bit more than grass seed (yes, I think someone else inherited mine, cuz none came up last year). In Dark Succession it hides one of the largest underground compounds in the state. And its not the military who’s hiding within it’s walls. Nope. It’s a pack of rogue wolven, each hiding a secret. Each ejected from their own pack to avoid death. They’ve come together, drawn under the leadership of a man named Joshua. Only Joshua is dead now, and his brother must step up to take the reigns. How can a man, who hates everything his brother stood for, lead a pack of vicious and wild wolven?

And when he brings Nora home with him one dark, September evening, how can he protect her from his pack? And how can he continue the hide the dark secrets hidden within, and still make her his mate? Only time and words will tell as you delve into this dark, sensual story.

Nora is the daughter of a former pack leader. A man who stepped down, giving the job to his brother. She’s suffered at the hands of miscreants who wanted her father’s pack (see the book titled SheWolf, available at Freya’s Bower), and while her body has recovered, her mind has not. She’s jumpy and responds with fear at times she finds both embarrassing and horrifying. Always a strong woman, she doesn’t know how to hide the fear building inside her. But when she gets a hint of the dark and terrifying secrets within Ryland’s pack, she refuses to leave. Not to protect him, but to find the truth, no matter what it is.

Dark Succession is hot and sensual, like nothing I’ve ever written. The delicious chemistry is only tempered by the danger hiding within. I don’t think I’m bragging when I say this video sets the stage very well. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you buy Dark Succession, on Tuesday, 20 April, available at Freya’s Bower!

I’ll be doing several blogs in the coming weeks, so anyone who responds will be added to a contest. Respond to the questions posted, and if you buy either Dark Succession or Lone Wolf after April 20th, send me the receipt/proof of purchase, and you’ll be entered to win $25.00 gift card at!

So today’s question of the day: What do YOU have planned for the hot summer days this year?

Again thanks so much to Teresa for sharing this with us. I can assure when she says hot she means it. I did not have the pleasure of helping critique this book but believe me when I say she can write hot with deep characters.
