A Classic, and Classy, Wetsday

Sometimes, you know, you have to take the long view. You look back over history, and you realize that the way things are now may not be the optimum situation. Just because something is au courant, the latest-and-greatest, does not mean that it is the best thing ever.

This week I saw an ad for “My Week With Marilyn,” which looks to be a really good movie. After all, it’s got my gorgeous ginger man-candy, the delectable Eddie Redmayne in it. And the ever-charming Professor Golderoy Lockhart himself, Kenneth Branagh.

But dear Mr. Branagh appears in the film in the role of one of the all-time greats of the English stage, my beloved Sir Laurence Olivier. Sir Larry was not just one of the finest actors of the Engish language, he was married to Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh) AND he was the prototypical Mr. Darcy. What is there about Sir Larry for me not to love?

So, anyway, here’s a few shots of the one, the only, the original Fitzwilliam Darcy, the fabulous Sir Larry! Get yourself into your 1940s mindset and enjoy!
